Charlotte's Holiday Legacy

Originally performed at Ovens Auditorium for decades, the event quickly became a highlight of Charlotte’s holiday calendar, known for its blend of traditional carols, lively arrangements, and a sense of joy that captured the community's holiday spirit. This annual event paved the way for the Singing Christmas Tree's ongoing legacy, which continues to be a cherished part of Charlotte's cultural history.

Celebrating the Season

Organized by Carolina Voices (then known as the Charlotte Choral Society), the Singing Christmas Tree featured a 32' towering, tree-shaped structure adorned with lights, where the singers would perform holiday classics from within its branches, creating a magical scene that brought families together to celebrate the season.

Singing Christmas Tree 1966

By the 1960s, the Singing Christmas Tree had blossomed into a beloved holiday tradition, captivating audiences with its unique blend of music, community, and festive spirit.
